Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the correlation between the results of the Molecular Rapid Test (MRT/TCM) and chest radiographic (chest X-ray) findings in tuberculosis patients at Dr. Soedarso Regional General Hospital. This research employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 244 patients who met the population criteria in 2025. A total of 152 patients were included as the study sample based on the sampling criteria. The majority of respondents diagnosed with tuberculosis were male, accounting for 75.7% (115 patients). Of the 152 samples, the largest age group was 25–44 years, representing 34.4% of the study population. Data analysis was conducted after all data had been collected, and statistical analysis using Spearman’s Rank Correlation (Spearman’s Rho) showed a p-value of 0.003 (p ≤ 0.05), indicating a statistically significant relationship between the Molecular Rapid Test (TCM) results and chest radiographic findings. The examination results showed that Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) Detected; Rifampicin Resistance Not Detected was found in 62 patients (40.8%), while the most common chest X-ray finding was cavitary lesions, observed in 78 patients (51.3%). Although a statistically significant correlation was identified, the correlation strength was very weak, suggesting that the relationship between the two variables is not clinically strong.
