Abstract

Background: Birth asphyxia occupies the 3rd cause of infant death in the world in the early life period (WHO, 2012). Each year, approximately 3% (3.6 million) of 120 million newborns experience asphyxia, nearly 1 million of these babies die (Wiknjosastro, 2008). WHO states that IMR due to asphyxia in Southeast Asia is the second highest, at 142 per 1000 after Africa. Indonesia is the country with the fifth highest IMR for ASEAN countries in 2011, namely 35 per 1000, where Myanmar 48 per 1000, Laos and Timor Laste 48 per 1000, Cambodia 36 per 1000 (Mary Greece 2013).
Research Objectives: Able to provide comprehensive midwifery care to Mrs. S and Baby Mrs. S with moderate asphyxia neonatorum.
Research Methods: Using descriptive observational methods with a case study approach/ Case Study Research (CSR).
Research Results: From the SOAP assessment that Mrs. S and Baby Mrs. S with Asphyxia Neonatorum Moderate with the care of pregnant women, check at BPM Eqka Hartikasih, give birth normally, babies born with moderate asphyxia, apgar score 4/8, body weight: 2648 grams, and body length: 48 cm, postpartum 3 times, newborns 3 times neonatal visits, immunization starting from BCG, DPT 1-HB-Hib and polio 1, the mother used lactation Pill so that there is no gap between theory and case.
Research Conclusion: Based on the midwifery care that has been carried out from the discussion of Comprehensive Midwifery Care at Mrs. S and Baby Mrs. S with Asphyxia Neonatorum Moderate using 7 varney steps starting from data collection to evaluation and the conclusions that can be obtained are in accordance with the existing theory and there are no gaps.
