Abstract

Background: Comprehensive midwifery care is one of the assessments that includes all periodic examinations to detect early pregnancy complications, including prenatal care, childbirth, birth weight, postpartum, and vaccination. By 2023, maternal deaths in Indonesia will reach 305 per hundred live births (demographic data). 24% of which is caused by preeclampsia. Therefore, midwives need to enhance their clinical knowledge by implementing continuous midwifery care (Continuity of Care).
Case Report: Comprehensive midwifery care was performed on Mrs N and her baby from November 07 to January 20, 2023 at the Regional Public Hospital of Dr. Soedarso. The data collecting methods direct were interview and documentation.
Discussion: This case report details complete midwifery on Mrs. S, a patient with severe preeclampsia, using the SOAP method. The comprehensive care encompassed pregnancy, delivery, birth weight, and postpartum. In the implementation of care, it was found a gap between the case and the theory. The patient was not given MgSO4 for the initial management of pre-eclampsia at Titin Widyaningsih midwife clinic.
Conclusion: Comprehensive midwifery care for severe preeclampsia has been wholly and procedurally conducted for Mrs. N and her baby using seven stages of Varney management. However, there was a gap between the case and theory in care management.
