Abstract
Background: According to WHO, there were 303,000 maternal mortalityrate (MMR) cases in 2019. Similarly, the World Bank indicatesthe global infant mortality rate (IMR) in 2019 reached 28.2 per 1000 live births. MMR and IMR in Indonesia are still relatively high due to various complications in pregnant women, childbirth, childbirth, and newborns. The number of MMR collected from the family health recording program at the Ministry of Health shows an increase from 4,627 in 2020 to 7,389 deaths in 2021 in Indonesia. The number of Indonesian neonatal mortality in 2021 was 79.1% occurring at the age of 0-6 days, 20.9% occurring at the period of 7-28 days, and 18.5% occurring at the age of neonatal mortality, 29 days to 11 months. The government's efforts to immediately reduce MMR are ensuring that all women receive quality health services by trained health workers. Meanwhile, another IMR reduction program by Permenkes Number 25 of 2014 focuses on the fetus, newborn, and baby's health.
Case Report: Comprehensive midwifery care was performed from July 18 to March 7, 2022. Information was obtained by applying primary data, namely gatherin ginformation, examining, observing and collecting data. Data analysis was carried out by equating the results obtained during care with applicable midwifery materials.
Discussion: This case report details the continuity of care for Mrs S and her baby to see the gap between the case and the theory.
Conclusion: Complete continuity of care has been wholly and procedurally conducted for Mrs. S and her baby using seven stages of Varney management in the form oft he SOAP method. There was a gap between the case and theory, particularly the low uterine fundus, patient’s weight gain, fast duration of the first and the second stage, second-degree tears, slow initiation of early breastfeeding, BCG, and polio I vaccination administration in newborns.
