Abstract

Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) recorded that in 2019, the maternal mortality rate (MMR) was 303,000 people, and the infant mortality rate (IMR) was 28.2 per 1000 live births. Meanwhile, the MMR in ASEAN is 235 per 100,000 live births. The 2020 MMR in Indonesia was 4,627 deaths, and the 2021 MMR was 79.1%. Therefore, a comprehensive midwifery care program is essential to reduce this mortality rate. Comprehensive midwifery care examines pregnant women, postpartum women, and newborns to ensure a safe birthing process and that babies are born safely and healthily.
Case Report: Comprehensive midwifery care was performed for Mrs S and her baby at the Haikhah clinic using observational descriptive observation and case study research (CSR).
Discussion: This case report details the continuity of care for the patient from data collection to evaluation using the seven stages of a Varney model. The care encompasses the pregnancy period, new-born, and vaccination, using the seven stages of a Varney model.
Conclusion: The results of the complete continuity for Mrs S and her baby show the consistency between the theoretical concept and the application in terms of postpartum, new-born, and vaccination.
