Abstract

Background: Low birth weight baby is newborn weighing less than or equal to 2500 grams. Babies with low birth weight (LBW) will increase morbidity and infant mortality. Birth weight is crucial prognosis and complications that will occur. Results of a preliminary study in dr. Soedarso Pontianak in the period 1 January to 10 April 2015 obtained 375 babies. Babies born with a normal weight as much as 294 baby while the baby is born weighing as much as 79 lahirrendah baby.
Purpose: To determine the relationship Parity Gen Low Birth Weight Babies
The Regional General Hospital Doctor Soedarso Pontianak 2015.
Methods: This study is a case-control analytic approach in which the effects identified at this time, then the risk factors identified in the past (and Salma Suyanto, 2009). The population in this study is the mother who gave birth to low birth weight babies in dr. Soedarso Pontianak 2015.
Results: The frequency of maternal parity obtained from the proportion of mothers with parity> 4 amounted to 44.3% and mothers with parity <4 amounted to 55.7%. Results of analysis of the relationship between parity and incidence of low birth weight infants gained 31% of mothers with parity> 4 who gave birth to babies with low birth weight.
Conclusion: There is a significant relationship to the occurrence of the birth of babies with low birth weight in women with parity> 4
