Abstract

Introduction:Tuberculosis (TB) is an airborne infectious disease caused by the complex organism Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection can develop from incarceration in the host, where the bacteria isolated in the granuloma (latent TB infection) will infect the patient with signs which may include cough, fever, night sweats & weight gain. Purpose: To determine the risk factors for tuberculosis in the Sungai Kakap Health Center area. Method: Analytical observational, with a case control approach because the purpose of this study was to determine the risk factors for tuberculosis in the Sungai Kakap Public Health Center area. Results: The study showed that age did not yield results. Gender had no relationship (P Value=0.295) (OR=2.000). Distance from house had no relationship (P Value=0.020) (OR=4.000). Lighting had no relationship ( P Value=0.747) (OR=0.657). Ventilation has no relationship (P Value=1.000) (OR=0.800). Humidity has no relationship (P Value=0.747) (OR=0.657). Temperature has no relationship (P Value =0.551) (OR=0.583). The floor has a relationship (P Value=0.011) (OR=0.176). The wall has a relationship (P Value=0.011) (OR=0.229). Conclusion: In this study, Age, Gender, House Distance, Lighting, Ventilation, Humidity, Temperature were not included as risk factors for tuberculosis. While on the type of floor and type of wall there is a relationship between the risk factors for tuberculosis.
