Abstract
Background: Comprehensive midwifery care involves a thorough examination, including simple laboratory examinations and counselling. To reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR), pregnant women must have regular health checks to receive quality antenatal care and prevent the development of pathological conditions or the risk of death for the mother and baby. Indonesia has an Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) of 35 per 1,000 live births, equivalent to around 175,000 infant deaths per year. This data shows that Indonesia's IMR is still relatively high compared to other ASEAN member countries. Indonesia's IMR is 4.6 times higher than Malaysia, 1.3 times that of the Philippines, and 1.8 times that of Thailand.
Case Report: Comprehensive midwifery care was performed on Mrs. K (24 years, G1P0A0) and her baby from August 10, 2022, to February 14, 2023. The type of the data was primary. The data collecting techniques were anamneses, examination, observation, and documentation. The data, then, were analyzed by comparing the data gathered and the existing theory.
Discussion: This case report uses a descriptive case study method, in this case is comparing basic theoretical principles with their implementation in comprehensive midwifery care, covering the entire process from pregnancy to contraceptives. The main goal is ensuring the mother and baby remain healthy and safe.
Conclusion: Comprehensive midwifery care has been wholly and procedurally conducted for Mrs K and her baby using the SOAP method. However, a gap was found between the case and theory in the prolonged first-stage (precipitous labor).
