Abstract
Background: Anemia is a medical condition characterized by a reduction in the number of red blood cells (erythrocytes) or a decrease in hemoglobin levels within the circulatory system, thereby impairing the blood's ability to transport oxygen effectively to various tissues in the body (Arbainah et al., 2024). A case study indicates that the primary cause of maternal mortality rate (MMR) is postpartum hemorrhage (WHO, 2021). Data from the Family Health and Nutrition Department at the West Kalimantan Provincial Health Office reveals that the maternal mortality rate is 214 per 100,000 live births, whereas Pontianak Regency reports a rate of 19 per 10,000 live births (Health Office, 2021). Furthermore, the Basic Health Research conducted in 2019 identified that 84.6% of anemia cases occurred among pregnant women. This finding is corroborated by data from the Inter-Census Population Survey (SUPAS) of West Kalimantan Province in 2021, which indicated that approximately 9.2% of pregnant women were affected by anemia (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, 2020).
Case Report: Comprehensive midwifery care was administered at the Alianyang Health Center from June 13, 2023, to November 24, 2023. The information utilized in this report is derived from primary data sources. Discussion: This case report delineates midwifery care provided to a pregnant woman diagnosed with anemia, utilizing the SOAP method for structured documentation.
Conclusion: Mrs. N and her neonate received comprehensive midwifery care in accordance with Varney's 7-step protocol, organized in a SOAP format. The report identifies a discrepancy between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation, specifically relating to maternal hemoglobin levels, the duration of premature labor, and the application of leaves to the baby's umbilical cord.
