Abstract

Background: Comprehensive midwifery care is an examination carried out systematically, entirely and continuously starting from pregnancy, delivery, postpartum and neonates to reduce maternal mortality. Currently, maternal mortality is the most significant health problem in the world. In the province of West Kalimantan, 117 cases of maternal mortality were recorded in 2019. Preliminary studies at PMB Hayati Pontianak showed no maternal and infant deaths in the last year. Still, there were several maternal visits, such as antenatal care (111), intranatal care (51), newborn babies (51), postpartum (51), and birth control method (788).
Case Report: Comprehensive midwifery care was performed for Mrs L (20 years, G1P0A0) from November 12, 2022, to March 28, 2023. The type of the data was primary. The data collecting techniques were anamneses, examination, observation, and documentation. The data, then, were analyzed by comparing the data gathered and the existing theory.
Discussion: This case report details the continuity of care for Mrs L and her baby at the Astatin and Hayati Chaniago midwife clinics, the Aisyiah Pontianak main clinic, and the patient’s house. The comprehensive care encompasses the pregnancy period to infant vaccination.
Conclusion: Based on the complete continuity of Mrs L and her baby, a gap was found between the case and theory, particularly in pregnancy ( antenatal visit, maternal weight), delivery (dilation stage) and postpartum (postpartum visit).
