Introduction : midwifery care for newborns is very important to ensure the health and well-being of the baby and mother. Several important aspects in midwifery care for newborns are assessment immediately after birth, postnatal care, vaccination and supplementation, health monitoring, emotional and psychological support. The infant mortality rate (IMR) in West Kalimantan province in 2022 will increase again by 24 cases. The causes of neonatal death are LBW and prematurity at 30.2%, asphyxia at 28%, and other causes are congenital abnormalities, infection, neonatal tetanus, Covid 19 and others. One of the efforts made to reduce IMR is through the Healthy Indonesia program with a family approach and community-based health efforts with a home visit approach.
Case Report : By.Ny.A was given continuous medical care at PMB Titin Widyaningsih on November 14, 2023. The subject was By.Ny A aged 1 hour with umbilical cord care using sterile gauze. Data collection was carried out by anamnesis, observation, examination and documentation.
Discussion : In this case, the report describes obstetric care for newborns with anamnesis, observation, examination and documentation.
Conclusion : In midwifery care for By. Ny. A using Varney's 7 steps, there is a gap between theory and practice.
