UJI ANTIJAMUR MENGGUNAKAN EKSTRAK SERAI (Cymbopogoncitrarus) SEBAGAI PENGHAMBAT PERTUMBUHAN JAMUR CANDIDA ALBICANS

Background: This study aims to test the antifungal activity of lemongrass extract (Cymbopogon citratus) as an inhibitor of the growth of Candida albicans fungus. Candida albicans is an opportunistic fungus that often causes infections, especially in individuals with weak immune systems, and cases of resistance to synthetic antifungal drugs are increasing. Lemongrass extract is known to contain active compounds such as citral, geraniol, and flavonoids that have the potential to damage fungal ce l membranes and inhibit their growth.
Method: This study used the disc diffusion method with variations in lemongrass extract concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15% to determine the effectiveness of inhibiting the growth of Candida albicans.
Results: 5% concentration did not show any inhibition zone, 10% concentration did not show any inhibition zone, 15% concentration did not show any inhibit ion zone.
Conclusion: This study did not find any effect of lemongrass extract on Candida albicans fungus
