Abstract
STH (Soil Transmitted Helminths) is a parasitic worm infection that lives in the human intestine causing intestinal worms. One way to identify STH (Soil Transmitted Helminths) eggs is to use eosin coloring, eosin has several disadvantages, namely carcinogenic, expensive and not easily decomposed, alternative dyes based on natural ingredients, one of which is the rosella flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L). The research aims to determine differences in concentration variations of rosella flower extract when examining STH (Soil Transminth Helminth) worms as an alternative dye to replace eosin. The research method is an experimental using rosella extract concentrations variations of 50%, 60% and 75%. The sampling technique is purposive sampling with a sample size of 27 samples. The results of statistical tests using Mann Whitney U at a comparison of 50% and 60% showed that there was no difference in coloring quality, namely in the not good category, with a p value > 0.05, while at a concentration of 75% compared with a concentration of 50% and 60% the results were there is a difference with poor quality with p value <0.05 and seen from the significance value between variations of 50%, 60% and 75% compared to the eosin control, it shows that there is a difference in quality in coloring (p value <0.05). The result showed that rosella flowers have potential as an alternative dye to replace eosin but have not shown better results compared to eosin.
