Abstract
The back ground and the aim of research Phlebotomy is a crucial skill in Medical Laboratory Technology education, involving blood collection procedures and the correct selection of sampling tubes. Android-based technology offers an interactive learning medium to improve comprehension. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of an Android-based phlebotomy learning application on the knowledge of D-IV Medical Laboratory Technology students in selecting sampling tubes.
Method A quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed with 40 third-semester students from Politeknik ‘Aisyiyah Pontianak. The instrument consisted of 10 multiple-choice questions covering tube types, additive functions, sampling order, and tube suitability. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution and the Shapiro-Wilk test, followed by the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test at a 95% confidence level.
Results indicated that most pretest scores were in the medium category (42.5%), while posttest scores increased to 62.5%. The Shapiro-Wilk test confirmed non-normal distribution (p-value 0.000 <0.05). The Wilcoxon test revealed a significant difference in students’ knowledge before and after using the application (p-value <0.05).
Conclusion: The Android-based phlebotomy learning application significantly enhanced students’ knowledge in selecting sampling tubes, demonstrating its potential as an effective interactive learning tool.
