Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) remains an infectious disease and a major public health problem in Indonesia. The Xpert MTB/RIF assay is used to detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis and estimate bacterial load, while the Platelet-Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR) is an inflammatory hematological parameter that may serve as an additional indicator in TB patients. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between PLR values and the categorical results of the Xpert MTB/RIF test in pulmonary tuberculosis patients in Delta Pawan Subdistrict, Ketapang Regency. This study used an observational analytical quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 65 respondents were selected using random sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using Spearman’s rho correlation test. The results showed a correlation coefficient of -0.069 with a significance value of 0.583 (p > 0.05), indicating that there was no significant relationship between PLR and the categorical results of the Xpert MTB/RIF test in pulmonary tuberculosis patients. These findings suggest that PLR cannot be used as a single predictor of bacterial load based on Xpert MTB/RIF results. In conclusion, PLR has no significant relationship with Xpert MTB/RIF categories. Therefore, its use as an additional indicator should be combined with clinical parameters and\ other more specific diagnostic examinations
