Abstract
The Background and research objectives. Hypertension is a noncommunicable disease whose prevalence continues to rise significantly worldwide and is a major risk factor for various cardiovascular complications, such as stroke, coronary heart disease, chronic kidney disease, and premature death. The World Health Organization (WHO, 2023) reports that approximately 1.28 billion adults worldwide have hypertension, and 46% of them are unaware of their condition. The global prevalence of hypertension continues to rise alongside changes in lifestyle, urbanization, obesity, stress, and increasing life expectancy. This makes hypertension a “silent killer” that requires early detection, routine monitoring, and continuous management. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between microalbumin levels and blood pressure in patients at the Kimia Farma Laboratory in Pontianak.
Research method. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. This design was used to determine the relationship between urinary microalbumin levels and blood pressure in Prolanis patients, in which measurements of the independent and dependent variables were taken at the same time without any intervention from the researchers. The cross-sectional approach was chosen because it is efficient for assessing relationships between variables and is appropriate for research in the field of clinical laboratory science.
Results. The study found a significance level of p > 0.05, indicating that there was no significant association between microalbumin levels and blood pressure in Prolanis patients at the Kimia Farma Laboratory in Pontianak.
Conclusion. This study concluded that there is no significant relationship between microalbumin levels and hypertension in Prolanis patients.
