Abstract

Background: Perineal rupture is a tear in the birth canal when the baby is born vaginally which is influenced by several factors including maternal, fetal and others. In December - November 2021, at PMB (Midwife Independent Practice) Sri Maryanti, Kubu Raya Regency, 183 normal deliveries were recorded. The women giving birth with perineal rupture was recorded for 136 cases and 47 cases without perineal rupture.
Research Objectives: The aim of this study is to find out the determinants of the incidence of perineal rupture in spontaneous labor at PMB Sri Maryanti.
Research Methodology: Analytic observational method with case control design was used in this research on 47 case groups (perineal rupture) and 47 control groups (perineum intact) and purposive sampling technique. Test analysis was using the Chi Square test and logistic regression test to determine the most dominant factor.
Result: This study showed that there was a relationship between maternal age (p=0.001), parity (p=0.001), infant weight (p=0.007), and the second Period duration (p=0.017) with the case of perineal rupture. Multivariate analysis showed that the most dominant factor causing perineal rupture was infant weight (p=0.013 and OR=4.034).
Conclusion: There was a relationship between the variables of mother's age, parity, baby's weight, and length of stage II to the case of perineal rupture in PMB Sri Maryanti. The most dominant factor was the baby's weight.
