Abstract

Background: Stunting, as defined by the World Health Organization (2020), refers to a condition where a child's body falls significantly below the average size for their age, as indicated by measurements of body height/length. A child is considered stunted if their height or body length is more than two standard deviations below the median curve according to WHO standards.
Method: This study employed a descriptive quantitative approach with a cross-sectional method. The study's population consisted of 45 mothers with children under 5 years old, and the research sample was selected using Accidental Sampling.
Results: The majority of respondents were under 35 years old (80%), had completed secondary education (55.6%), and had fewer than 3 children (86.7%). Additionally, the study found that most toddlers did not receive exclusive breastfeeding (68.9%), were born with a body length of more than 47 cm and a body weight of over 2500 grams (84.4%). Moreover, the research highlighted that the majority of respondents had inadequate knowledge about stunting (68.9%), and their attitudes towards stunting were largely negative (64.4%).
Conclusion: The study concludes that there is a significant lack of knowledge about stunting among mothers, and their attitudes towards addressing stunting remain unsupportive.
