Abstract

Background Body Roundness Index (BRI) is an anthropometric indicator used to assess body fat distribution and is associated with the risk of metabolic diseases, including Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Objective this study aimed to analyze the correlation between Body Roundness Index (BRI) and fasting blood glucose levels among patients at West Singkawang II Community Health Center. Methods This study employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. Samples were selected using a consecutive sampling technique, resulting in 61 participants who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collected included waist circumference and height measurements to calculate BRI, as well as fasting blood glucose measurements. Data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test with a predetermined level of significance. Result the results showed a significant relationship between Body Roundness Index (BRI) and fasting blood glucose levels among the participants. The correlation coefficient indicated a moderate positive correlation. Statistically, this relationship was found to be significant based on the obtained p-value. Conclusion, there was a significant correlation between Body Roundness Index (BRI) and fasting blood glucose levels among adult patients at West Singkawang II Community Health Center.
